Waldfahrtskapelle Roberts Cove Pilgrimage Chapel

Also the site of Waldfahrtskappelle. Constructed in 1890 and used as a Pilgrimage Chapel, the Waldfahrtskappelle was formerly located in a wooded area of St. Leo Parish. Once a month on Sundays, the pastor and parishioners took a walking pilgrimage to the chapel to recite the rosary and prayers in what was known as “Gottesdienst an Sonnatagen.”

The chapel was later transferred to the St. Leo Cemetery, and then to its present site, “under the original oaks.”

Visiting the church grounds, especially at night, is a treat. Beneath massive oaks is special lighting on the small chapel with its small altar with elaborate carving. Today, it is used for all processions and is a retreat for private mediations.

The chapel was damaged during Hurricane Lili in October 2002, but has been completely restored to its original construction and beauty.

The chapel is part of Acadia Parish Tourism’s Faith Trail.
